What I’m Into {March 2014}

Linking up with Leigh Kramer to share what I’ve been into lately.

Read and Reading:

I started the month strong, even reading two books one weekend, but then I sputtered out a bit (which is what tends to happen). I get distracted and start researching a topic online and suddenly didn’t pick up a book for a few days. Right now, I’m reading The Glass Castle among others and I’m intrigued (its been highly recommended and it is really good), but not devouring it at the moment. Here are my Twitterature reviews from February.

 TV:

Ever since we got rid of cable and DVR, it is harder for me to watch TV because I disdain waiting through commercials. However, that typically means I sit in the living room with the TV on in the background while working on something else at the same time. I don’t have any must see shows. We used to watch American Idol a couple years ago, but saw a bits of a couple episodes this season and was completely unimpressed, but I do like listening in on THE VOICE.  On another note, I haven’t actually watched on TV but I’ve checked YouTube for Candace Cameron Bure’s performances on Dancing with the Stars. She’s received negative backlash for her stance on faith and submission in marriage; I’m am so impressed by how she carries herself and continues to make a brave and bold stance in her beliefs! I’m a fan.

Things I Love:

  • So, I haven’t linked up with Leigh before, but it is a bit of inspiration to keep better track of what I’ve been into, interested in, pinning, and loving. I tend to share more big ticket items on my blog vs. the daily ins and outs (maybe its a slight aversion to total vulnerability :). I’ll work to keep better track next month, but a great way to get a good idea would be to follow along on Pinterest.

On The Blog:

Waiting Questionarrie

  • I try to share an Adoption Update at least once/month by filling out my Adoption Waiting Questionnaire; but the biggest thing I shared in March was the Both Hands Adoption Fundraiser we have coming up at the end of April. We’ve been waiting 7.5 months and we are so ready to bring home our baby, but this is a pretty remarkable time experiencing family and friends gather around to support us!

Reading vs comp

  • I was astonished at learning the suggested reading level of The Giving Tree is 6 years old! Now, that might be when a child can read it on his own; however, it sparked in me the great debate of giving children something to chew on by reading at or slightly above their comprehension level and not waiting to offer quality literature until their able to read it by themselves.
  • As always I tried to {Capture} some moments in picture and word along the way.

Thanks for reading; I look forward to hearing what you’re into this month!

    Hi Becca! I read “The Glass Castle” a few years ago. It was one of those reads that was hard to read at times, but also so very inspirational. It made me realize that everyone has a story to tell in their lives. It also made me more aware that people maybe be going through a lot in their lives on a given day, and maybe, just by sharing a smile, or a kind word, could brighten their day.

    I was recently visiting my wonderful, 88 year old mother, and we were at Savers looking for books. I bought her this book, so I will be interested in what she thinks of it.

    Hope all is well with you and your beautiful family!

      That is awesome, Leigh. The organization is amazing and I pray more and more people see it as an opportunity to take part in adoption and that there are viable means of doing so!

    Hi Becca! Your blog is just heartfelt and beautiful. And I too disdain commercials. :)
