Highlights at our Home {September 2013}

How are these months passing so quickly? I feel like I JUST wrote August’s Highlights and here we are looking back on September. It was definitely a wonderful whirlwind…

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but we started out the month with a little Wedding ;) If you missed it, you can check out Angie & George’s Wedding Weekend {Parts One, Two, & Three}

That following week, we officially became the proud owners of our very own Swagger Wagon. Yes! Andy’s first word were “this is luxurious!” Haha – You probably haven’t heard that before! Expecting another child, we knew we would need a larger vehicle because I was previously driving a Rav4, which literally could not fit 3 car seats across the back seat (Andy is convinced that the car dealerships and car seat manufacturers are in cahoots). Plus, when we get the call for our baby, we could very well need to pack up, jump in the van, and drive; so it was an upgrade we needed to make sooner rather than later. We are great big ‘ol fans of Dave Ramsey! Knowing of our impending purchase, we’ve been saving to pay cash. We found a perfect van – 2004 new model, low mileage, etc. after selling the Rav4 – we spent a mere fraction of what we had saved and now own it free and clear…Praise God!We’ve moved up to an 8 seater (count them 8); now onto filling it up ;)

Here’s an oldie but a goodie. Enjoy!

The IRONMAN! This is one of my favorite events to attend (not participate in :) every year, but especially when we know someone to cheer for. This year, my cousin, Rachele, and her boyfriend, Andreas, stuck around after the family festivities so he could compete the next weekend. Conveniently, we live ON the race course, so they came on Friday night and stayed through Monday morning. I cannot describe how much fun it was to spend that time with them; plus, other cousins came,too! We headed down to check in the gear the day before, spent the morning at the farmer’s market, prepared and shared meals, and cheered him on all day Sunday!

We celebrated our 5th Wedding Anniversary! Yippee…We had two sick chickadees on our actual anniversary, but I shared a little bit of the Winding When & How We Met and Our {super fun, make-up} Anniversary Date! I love this man now more than ever!

This month I started my weekly Bible study called Encounter. This semester we are doing a study on Suffering & Hope and using the book of Job as our guide. Every year it is a blessing to me; the beginning is like school – new teachers, new ‘classmates’, but it is always orchestrated by God.

As for BOOKS: If your curious as to what I read this past month, you can find 4 short reviews via Twitterature!

Max started his first swimming class. The little fish loves it. It is a super small class, just him and two other children (and the other day, they didn’t come, so Max had a 30 minute private swim lesson). And Cal just walks around finding things to do, food to eat, and occasionally, pounding on the glass to get his brother’s attention.

I had the privilege of going to the Women of Faith Conference this past weekend. It was jam-packed with incredible speakers and performers; seriously, any one of these people/groups could have keynoted or performed the entire two days! The times of worship filled my soul, brought tears to my eyes (over and over again), and reminded me of how much I connect with God in musical worship. I took some notes and will have to share a couple of my favorite takeaways!

    Dave Ramsey is awesome. We first went through his program when we were living in Texas, I think. Great stuff!
