Organic Home & Body Products

When Andy and I started Our {Real Food} Journey it also spurred the realization that we not only put a lot of junk in our bodies, but on them. I started dabbling in homemade organic home and body products, some of which resulted in:

  • Hard Lotion Bars
  • Whipped Body Butters
  • Sugar Scrubs, and
  • Organic Beeswax candles

I will be selling all of these products at this coming Saturday’s Christmas Shopping Open House!

They mostly include different ratios of Extra-Virgin Unrefined Coconut oil, Raw Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Beeswax, and essential oils. What I love, love, love about using these miraculous ingredients is that each of them has incredible health benefits. Just some of these properties include: anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, moisturizing, barrier producing to lock-in moisture, and healing (if I have a cut, I actually just break off a small portion of the lotion bar to smooth over the area and it is simultaneously soothing and healing).

Given that the average woman uses 12 products containing about 170 different ingredients daily, I wanted something in which I controlled the ingredients and kept them to a minimum. Most of the products I make contain 3-4 ingredients (none of which being water). At first they definitely feel different. You need to work on the lotion bars for a moment to soften and spread, but they are seriously the ONLY thing that has ever kept my hands from breaking in the winter; and the whipped body butter initially feels more oily than lotion, but then soaks in quickly (and I personally love that my skin just drinks it up).

As for the beeswax candles, what’s the point? Well, they burn super long and evenly and because of the remarkable properties of beeswax it actually purifies the air as you burn it (because God is awe.some.)! Most candles give off chemicals from the wax or wick, but these make your home cleaner and more pure for having burned them. How amazing is that?

lotion7 Stay tuned for the recipes!

I love that you are selling these now! How great! I can’t wait to see your recipes too. I have made scrubs but haven’t tried making the lotions yet. Did not know that the candles actually purify too. Amazing.

I LOVE this! So wonderful Becca! I went on that journey a little over 2 years ago. It’s amazing the difference…my cystic acne that I have had for my whole adult life cleared up. My eyes had been opened to how my health (as far as what i put on my skin) was being affected and wanted to make changes for my children’s health too. I would love to see your products! You rock. Xoxo

Thanks, Krystle. I know!! I am soooo much more aware of how I am feeling and how what I ate, drank (or didn’t eat or drink) really affects my overall health – looking and feeling. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve got in stock :)
