{Captured}: Carving the time to capture and create in picture and word.
// Our dear nephew celebrated his 4th birthday this past weekend with a League of Incredible Vegetables birthday party – complete with movie, cake, flower pot painting and seeds, veggie toss, and pin the nose on Bob the Tomato :) I took all my good pics of the birthday boy on his mom’s camera, but the cake is pretty sweet! //
// partners in crime – apparently everyone is a little curious about this gift //
// Cal & my dad – fast friends and best buds – It warms my heart when they are together //

I’ve captured some moments; now to capture some thoughts. Lisa-Jo Baker hosts 5 minute Friday, offering a prompt and then allowing space and only a brief time to write. Just write. Just 5 minutes (or so ;).
Today’s prompt: CROWD
Go:
Our church often refers to the big group of people sitting in the pews on a Sunday as a crowd. The church is the people that makes it up and the community that springs forth from relationship. The people packed into a room, uncertain of how they fit in, remain a crowd…
Andy and I talk a lot about community, hospitality, how we do/desire to spend our time and resources, how to be the body of Christ to people around us and what the Lord has called us to in the way of opening our home to love and serve people.
A lot of times, we’re not that good at it, life gets busy and we’re swept up in what has to get done. Or, if nothing has to get done, we’re happy to lay low and enjoy a free weekend.
But then we remain as part of the crowd…
The crowds gathered around Jesus.
The disciples at dinner with him.
The crowds demanded from Him.
The disciples drank him in.
The crowds rejected Him…
The disciples…well, the disciples did the same in some ways, but they came around and many of them died in his name!
When we think of relationship with people or Jesus – we must remember that community is found in vulnerability, in doing life together, in relationship.
There is no greater call than to go make disciples and there is no greater love than a man who lays down his life for his friend. And a friend is found in community, not in the crowd.
:STOP
God Bless your weekend.

I think there is a big difference from “the crowd” and “community”. Individuality and vulnerability need to exist to a certain extent in community. But the crowd tends to strip us of who we are as we start to blend into it. Good food for thought!

I like what you said about being stripped of who we are in the crowd…I agree, we can enjoy being part of the crowd, sharing united beliefs & sharing brief conversations, but the deep stuff comes with relationship!
I am so blessed to serve and be a disciple and servant of Christ not just one in the crowd =)
Thanks for linking up with me today!
