Today marks the beginning of Lent.
Traditionally it initiates a time of sacrifice for Christ (often giving something up for 6 weeks) in order to remind us of the sacrifice Christ made on our behalf, draw us closer to our King and prompt our prayer as we deny ourselves certain desires.
This year, I am giving up a couple things (that tend to just be distractions from getting other things done or paying full attention to Max); however, my main effort is to take on and combine a couple of different blogoshpere challenges.
This Season, most importantly, I want to live my life fully for Christ and carry that out as a wife, mother and homemaker!
It “dawned” on me that my home is far from the sactuary I want it to be – a simple, safe, welcoming, neat place for our family and friends to gather. As I mentioned yesterday, I am excited to participate in Project: Simplify, but my plan is to combine it with the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge I came across at Clover Lane! The idea obviously being to fill 40 bags with “stuff” and purge it from our home in order to cleanse and calm these spaces we desire to cherish.
So, as I follow along and tackle Project Simplify’s Weekly Hot Spot, I will also be prayerfully purging & filling bags; lifting up the time I spend as an offering to the Lord.
My desire is to create a home filled with His Spirit and not this world’s stuff!

I think I just cried reading this…. I am so excited, how can I help. If I get rid of the bags under my eyes will that count as two days for me?
