Below our 2011 Christmas Letter and Picture.
Dear Family and Friends,
2011 has been a whirlwind! The year has flown by with ups, downs and everything in between, but our most exciting news is “scheduled” toarrive in February 2012!
Here are some 2011 Highlights:
January: We celebrated my Dad’s 60th Birthday and I was blessed to stand next to my dear friends as their daughter, Lydia’s, Godmother at her dedication!
February: Max turned ONE on Feb. 2nd! He is an absolute blessing and filled with an incredibly joyful spirit. We are continuously amazed as he reaches new milestones and terrified as he performs new stunts. (We also found out we were pregnant this month, but sadly lost the baby at 8 weeks and now look forward to euniting with him or her in Heaven)!
March: We celebrated our nephew, Joey’s, 1st Birthday! As they age, he and Max are having a blast when they’re together and talk about each other when they’re apart.
April: Andy celebrated his 29th Birthday (yup, 3-0 this coming year!) and I had an appendectomy!
May: Living on 150 acres provided the opportunity to plant our first garden. I started my first trimester shortly thereafter and in turn did basically nothing to tend it; yet God’s plan of creation is astounding and with almost zero attention we still yielded vegetables well into the Fall. Summer also brought the Madison Farmer’s Market, which is absolutely my favorite way to spend almost every Saturday morning from April-November :)
June: We attended the “Ehrhart” Family Reunion (with the Smith/Voeltner side) in WI Dells; can you guess whether or not Max loved the waterpark? Summer brought a new awareness and love of the great outdoors! We spent countless hours diving into our kiddie pool, taking walks, going to the playground and generally avoidinggoing inside. We learned we are expecting; praying continuously for our baby’s health and certain that he or she is fearfully and wonderfully made!
July: Andy started his new job as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones! He spent the first few months working through an extensive training program, which includedtwo week long trips to AZ where he logged incredibly LONG hours but learned a ton. He moved to his new office in October and is now continuing to work long weeks as he faithfully provides for our family (including still maintaining his role as the Facilities Manager and Groundskeeper at the Goodman Jewish Community Campus)! On another note, thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, Andy and I escaped for a weekend away with friends up north at the Voeltner family cabin!
August: Max turned 18 months and has grown more and more hilarious and talkative since then! He loves trips to the Madison Children’s Museum and Zoo, and our weekly trips
to the Library.
September: We had a blast at Angie’s SURPRISE 30th birthday party and celebrated our 3rd Anniversary. We also started hosting and leading a new Young Families Life Group! God clearly had a hand in forming it and we are thrilled to take part.
October: Lots of Hiking and Apple Picking :)
November: This month was low-key but topped off with two wonderful Thanksgiving Feasts!
December: It has been a month of celebration! Andy and I have had lots of date nights celebrating: Matt’s 25th Birthday, Andy’s Business Christmas Parties, and our Life Group Dinner Date Night (9 couples out together and 18 kids with sitters, minus the additional two in tummies). I’m now 31 weeks and starting to slow down; keeping up with the little ball of energy (Max, not Andy) is my number one daily goal.
We pray you’re doing well and that 2011 has drawn you closer to Christ, as He is THE great Hope and Joy…”For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, EverlastingFather, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6-7
We pray you have a very Merry Christmas and blessed New Year!
~ The Voeltners
